I just bought an 02 mazda tribute lx v6 4wd. When I bought it I drove home great in drive but didn't have reverse. I replaced the transmission range sensor(neutral safety switch) the next day. I calibrated it the way it was supposed to be had the lines in place and put it on in neutral. Now I have reverse but it will not engage in any drive gears. I'm at a loss and hope someone can give me some information.

 

Sounds like the shift cable needs adjusting, as all gears work thats about all it can be I think.

 

It shifts into reverse fine and shifts into the forward gears they just won't engage anymore

 

So you have a dud range sensor, mis-fitted or mis-calibrated it. There are only so many things it can be. I'd go over the replacement and calibration process again and double-check you have the correct part for the model of trans.
