01 tribute keys won't program
I recently picked up a 2001 Tribute. It had a broken key in the ignition that would start the car. First thing I did was to pull the tumbler and remove the broken key. I turn went to Ford and purchased 2 new Ford transponder keys and had them cut off the broken key. Took them home and went through the security program on my Autel Maxisystem scanner and followed the steps to the letter. Scanner announced a successful programming. However, the red key light on the dash continued to rapid flash and neither key would crank the car. I've tried it over 10 times going through the erase and reprogram function to no avail. It continues to throw the code, Minimum number of keys not programmed in the power train system. Can anybody help me here? I've made sure there was no chip inside the steering column for a remote start that could've interfered with the keys I was putting in the ignition, as suggested by the Ford shop foreman. I made sure the PATS antenna was securely plugged in. Don't know what else to do here... Any suggestions?
