Default Is an RX8 for me?

Hey all. I'll be buying a new car here in about four months. I've been planning on getting an 02 Mustang GT, but I've been looking more and more at an 04 six-speedRX8(235 hp???). I was wondering how well they take mods?(I'm aiming for around 300RWHP) How do you guys think the RX8 compars with the Mustang GT?
Thanks for the help, everyone.

If you are looking for something for off the line peformance, grt the Mustang. If you are looking for a driver's car get the RX8.

If the RX-7's were any indication, they don't like a lot of torque, and the back end needs to be beefed up if you're going to push your torque output higher. I don't know if the back end is any stronger on the 8, but without making a big jump in torque from the 7 to the 8, I don't expect the 8 to be that much stronger at the back end.

I would say to go drive both of them. If you want raw horsepower and low end tire squealing torque, then the mustang is for you. If you want a high revving, evenly balanced sports car that sticks to the road through twists and turns, and screamsthrough top gears on the open highway, the RX-8 is the choice.

The RX is not a 1/4 mile car. You can increase HP with a cold air (or the Racing Beat ram air), and an exhaust (Mazdaspeed is a good one). Maybe up to 275 at the crank, but torque will always be way behind. The way to drive an RX is with the engine spinning fast. The electronic redline is about 9500 RPM, but technically, the rotary could spin faster.

Also, with the RX, you'll own one of the most unique cars on the road. The Mustang will just be another Mustang.

Drive both and then decide.

Lol well they were everywhere in the 60s too, but that's back when the Mustang was cool.

+1 for the RX-8. At least gas mileage isn't an issue for you...because if you buy a Mustang, you have to get the V8. If you don't, you just feel cheated of raw power anyway.

Unless you're considering a ROUSH Mustang? Then I'd say go get that.
