Default RX8 with 118,000 miles I am told not possible

Last April I bought a 2006 RX8 with 117,000 miles on the clock. Car runs great and car fax shows it has had an oil change every 4,000 to 5,000 miles which were done at a Mazda dealership, along with the recalls, does not show any major engine work. Friends tell me that there is no way the original engine is still in the car, it runs too well and appears to have good compression. I change the oil every 3,000 miles or 6 months . Are they correct ? Do you folks think an original engine could run this well and this long?
Thanks for your time,
Richard

I suppose it is possible, not terribly likely mind you, but possible. Either way, who cares? If the engine is in good shape, drive it and be happy.

While I am not overly familiar with the Rotery issues, Regular maintenance and careful use can go a long way. My brother had a Saturn with 450,000 miles with only regular mIntenance. He regrets selling it.

Congratulations on on your excellent find. Take care of it and enjoy it.

I agree, when I was a kid with a new driver license I got a 1972 RX3 and loved it. I am now reliving my youth !
I did blow out the side seals on the RX3 , but I was 17 so it was a learning experience.
