Default Po661 ssv

I have a 04rx8 and got the code po661, has anyone had this code for the ssv, if so what did you do? Seen some post where they just clean the connection and some videos where they took it out and cleaned it( a lot of work) just wanting to know what to try first.

I would just replace the solenoid. You can check the wiring/connectors/vacuum hoses on all 3 but I believe the white one is for that code. $50. or so i think. The PCM grounds it so I would not study too long before I repaired it.

P0661 : SSV solenoid valve control circuit low

DETECTION CONDITION • The PCM monitors the SSV solenoid valve control voltage when the PCM turns the SSV solenoid valve off. If the control voltage is less than 5.8 V, the PCM determines that the SSV solenoid valve control circuit voltage is low.

If the diagram works, SSV is number 12
( Note this is from an Australian workshop manual for a pre-facelift RX8)

Ok so I replaced the solenoid and the P0661 code went away but now I get a P 2096 code and it's says large vacuum leak, fuel system malfunction, MAF sensor, or ignition system malfunction. So what would throw this code after changing out the ssv solenoid. I double checked all vacuum hoses and all are connected. What now???!

DTC P2096 Target A/F feedback system too lean

• The PCM monitors the target A/F fuel trim when under the target A/F feedback control. If the fuel trim is more than the specification, the PCM determines that the target A/F feedback system is too lean.
Diagnostic support note
• This is a continuous monitor (Fuel system).
• The MIL illuminates if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition in two consecutive drive cycles or in one drive cycle while the DTC for the same malfunction has been stored in the PCM.
• PENDING CODE is available if the PCM detects the above malfunction condition during the first drive cycle.
• FREEZE FRAME DATA is available.
• The DTC is stored in the PCM memory.
