Exclamation Is this a burnt out clutch or gearbox problem ?

Recently whilst driving my RX8 pretty hard i smelt that awful smell of burning clutch then the gears stopped working, (every gear is like been in neutral) it starts perfect, ticks over perfect but like I say when I put it into gear to drive the just no traction at all,

Is this a clutch issue or is my gearbox gone,

Thanks for any answers

Either pull the dust cover inspect clutch plate, or pull it to a hill, not running in low gear does it roll down the hill? With a good clutch, and in low gear or reverse, it should not move.

Probably burnt the clutch out. Either way the box will need to be pulled out.

Thumbs up thanks for the responses

Hey guys, thanks for the responses, really grateful, I hope it is the clutch and nothing more serious, I am a technically minded person, but unfortunately I’m no mechanic I’m going to find a guide on how to remove my box & check my clutch, which I’ll be doing tonight,

I’ll search this forum and Google for a few guides and make what I can of it, if you know any links to a well written guide a share would be much appreciated, but I don’t expect you guys to spoon-feed me

Again, thanks

Keep it real !
