I'm looking for a mechanic/garage in the capital district area of New York State to address a 1985 12a rotary that won't idle, won't run unless foot is on the gas and the runs ruff. This was a sudden event, had been running fine. Thanks

pull the plugs & turn it over, there should be an even whooshing sound - if not you may have lost a seal & a rebuild is needed to fix it.
You could also do a compression check to get a more accurate diagnosis.
clean the carb is the next thing to do, could have carbon buildup or something just got plugged. Though I wouldn't think of this happening suddenly.
