just got an 84 rx7. ran great for a few weeks then the cap and rotor blew out. i checked the cap and
seen what looked to be a small fire inside and noticed the electrodes on the cap were corroded
the rotor itself came out in 2 pieces. got a new cap and rotor and checked it, i noticed that the electrodes
looked like they were getting smacked. and seen some tiny pieces on the rotor. what could cause this.
timing or distirbutor problem because at the moment im a lil confused.

 

There is a breaker plate with tiny bearings in it to allow the vac advance to rotate it for timing advance. They sell it seperately.
