Default a/c problem?

Looking to buy a 1989 but it has this problem and not sure if it is going to be a costly fix or a simple one. When you turn on the a/c, the engine dies.
What or where should I look for a fix?

Be careful. That is a common problem with old rotary engines. The compression gets low and they don't have enough vacuum to idle up via the IAC valve. Could be the compressor is locking up too.
