I just acquired a '85 GSL SE for super cheap. Battery is dead and when I put the charger on it the middle fusible link started smoking. I checked the Haynes manual and pretty much all power to every system runs through this link and thus I can't get any power anywhere to even start diagnosing. The car has been in storage since '99 in a barn. Anybody have any suggestions on what to do from here? I'm completely ignorant when it comes to Mazda engines and systems. Also, if anyone can point me to a good Mazda mechanic around Madison, WI that would be great. Thanks.
