Hey all,
I have inherited a 1979 RX7 with less than 20K on the odometer. It runs and is in fair shape (literally been in the barn for 30 plus years)
Car looks ok but front end has been repainted.
Value depends on production date, trim level, condition and usability.
This one's tough as it has sat for so long. The motor is toast if it was not drained before sitting, there might be serious problems with wiring if critters got in there and the gas tank will need replaced. The odometer is only 5 digits so to verify the 20k miles and not that it's 120k or 220k can only be verified through carfax or the dealership.
Post up a few more pictures, show the door id tags and I can give you a better idea of value. Bottom line these cars are getting rare, they are all super cool. So the value of them will only be going up. Are you planning on a full restoration or just cleaning it up and racing around a rotary?
I took the plugs out and sprayed the rotors with oil, let it sit for a few days then spun the engine by hand. I was able to start it and
drive it. Changed the oil and antifreeze. The mileage is correct as I knew the original owner.
This is why Mazda never should have changed the coolant sleeves on the housing to the irons. The older style can take much more water corrosion abuse. I recommend changing out the water pump and thermostat at some point.
Sounds like an amazing platform to start a build wbuilding I look forward to more pictures!
