Having finished this project Liam was now looking to let that motor go and start a turbo for the rhd. He had already pulled the motor from the miata and had taken it down... But that is another build thread! He had decided that he wanted to build a turbo motor like my old infini rhd had. He ended up pulling the motor out and selling it to a guy in WA who is still driving it around today and did a 6 port turbo intake swap to it and is putting 15psi of boost through it!!! So well done to Liam Maddox here for being the worlds youngest rotary engine builder and making a motor, restoring a car and then selling it to start a new project all at the age of 12! As a father I could not be more proud, as a friend, he is one cool guy and I am happy to have helped him!
He got started on the engine right away. Right now he is finishing up the miata, it went full build and is restored inside and out. He is building another super built motor for it on the side. Will be getti g its own build thread! The RHD fc build thread coming soon as well! Kids got skills!
I'm just going to make a pist here emphasizing how important teaching your kids goals and hand on skills. Since this build liam has finished the Mazda and spent the summer enjoying it:
He even took it on our favorite mountain, our mt akita!
After the miata build he wanted another build. I had just bought myself a muscle car and he wanted to do that next.
So he went and got a job, asked for help to get into a new challenger like I had so he can find a 66 pontiac to restore. He had grown up with me restoring classics and wanted to restore one. So we picked up a 66 tempest he bought all own his own!
A new goal and why its worth starting them young puts them on the right path!
Of course he immediately modified the crap out of it with flowmasters, coilovers and strut bars, new lip and spoiler and tires and rims like any 18yr old under my influence would do. 😁 He was smart to do so because obviously everyone in the RX7 community is jumping ship to Mopar.
And of course he is still enjoying the rx7s with everyone. I made him drive it home after parking 😆 He is currently taking on the rhd 2jz rocket bunny rx7 with me while i finish the GTUs and 10th anniversary edition rx7s!
