Default What kind of rear struts to stop rubbing

I bought new rims for my 2002 Protege5, with a 45 offset. Needless to say the 205-55-16 tires I had on the OEM rims were too big, they rubbed inside and out. So I put 205-50-16s on the new rims. Now they only rub on the outside with people in the back seat. Any suggestions as to putting different struts in the back that might alleviate this situation, or any other suggestion. Don't want to buy another set of tires. I would appreciate any help!

I have the same problem. I have 205-55-16 Eagle GT's on my PR5. There is maybe an eigth of an inch of space between the tread and the strut. Hopefully someone on here can help.

Default Found a solution

I went to my Mazda parts dept. and asked them. They referred me to a spring booster clamp that can be used to either lower the spring or inverted to stiffen the spring. I had them installed on the rear, two on each spring, only $14-16 a set. It was the perfect solution. No more rubbing. It does however make the steering feel softer because the rear feels lighter, but still handles well, just have to get used to the new feel.
