Default What am I missing? Cooling fan switch

Ok, PREV owner wired up the fan. Car was missing the relay and the wires to the radiator mounted fan switch were broken. Oh, this is a 1994 mazda protege Sohc 1.8. I installed new radiator, relay, and switch. Connected all OEM wires. Fan not kicking on. Wired fan direct, fan works. I disconnect the rad mounted switch and jumpered the plug. Fan is working with key and keeping it cool. It looks to me the new switch is bad. All air was purged from system and the switch gets hot.

Any ideas? There is not a switch on the thermostat housing, should the be 1 there also?

Thanks
