Vibration while stopped and in Drive or in park
I have a 95 mazda protege with 68K miles that I just bought. I believe it has the 1.6L engine.
Just wanting to know if anybody has had the same problem. While the trans. is in park, the car vibrates some but not as much as when the car is stopped and the trans. in drive. Best as I can compare it to is a cat purring but except this purring has some vibration enough to where I can see the passenger seat when it is unoccupied. To make the problem go away, I put it in neutral and it reduces almost to nothing.
Went to another forum and seems like this problem is common. A person on another forum went on to say that the motor mounts were replaced but still had the same problem. I was gonna start with the basics in regards to giving the engine a good tune-up (spark plugs and wires, cap and rotor, filters, etc) but not sure if this will solve the problem. Still gonna do it anyway.
Any input / help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
O Alanis
