Default timing marks on 90 mazda dohc protege

changed distributor on 90 protege due to distributor malfunction. need to know about timing marks. hard to see clearly with pulley/ pumps/ and belts. black timing plate integral with timing belt cover, has marks for 0-tdc etc incl 10 btdc. spec is 10 btdc at 700rpm.
pulley has two scores/notches (very small) about 1/2 inch apart. which marks line up with which on timing light? or do they both line up with 10 and 0- marks??

Ive never noticed 2 notchs in those pulleys. Maybe someone made the mark. Irregardless the factory spec is + - 3 degrees and you would be amazed at how much better you can make your car run if you power time it. Just advance the timing until it clatters on accel. Then retard it in 1 or 2 degree increments until it no longer clatters. There are a lot of variables to optimum timing. Elevation/humidity/fuel quality and octane etc. I power time almost everything and have for the last 30 years. My customers always tell me their car has never run that well when i tune them.
