I am in need of new struts for my 1999 Protege LX. A friend has recommend KYB parts. Has anyone tried to replace struts on their own? Any suggestions for parts? Advise for the labor?

The KYB are good struts to go with. I have done many, many struts over the years and I don't find them difficult. If you have never done them it can be very dangerous when releasing the coil spring tension. I know you can rent spring compressor tools that will help. I would read very carefully a manual before doing any type repairs on coil springs and struts.
