rough idling in cold weather
2003 protege....-10 temp. starting my car first thing in the morning the idling rough, the exhaust fumes smell like rotten eggs, the check engine light is blinking like crazy. The air input hose has been replaced. This an intermittent problem. After it has warmed up it run ok. Any suggestions.

Blinking check engine light usually = misfire and bad ignition coils.

UYN...if the coil was bad wouldn't it do it all the time and not just in -10 temp.?
Thanks for your info. I'll check it out |
Well, it is 12 years old. If your CoP's (Coil on plugs) are that old you can write them off. Are your plugs that old too?
Did you check for vacuum leaks? You took care of the air intake hose but there are plenty more opportunities to develop vacuum leaks. |
