Reverse Switch

Reverse Switch
I replaced the reverse switch on my tranny yesterday. Now it goes into reverse with difficulty. Before I replaced the switch it went in reverse real easy.
I am thinking I missed something in the process. Is there any specific preparation needed before swapping the switch? Does it need to be in reverse whille swapping it? Something is not right.
Thanks!

RE: Reverse Switch
On the old reverse switch there was an aluminum sealing washer. Did you transfer this washer to the new reverse switch or buy a new one? New switch does not come with one in the box. If washer is not installed then switch is installed too deep and contacts the 5th/Reverse change rod and make movement in those two gears difficult.

RE: Reverse Switch
That makes 100% sense! I did not see the washer since tranny fluid was gushing and I was distracted by that. [sm=bangbang.gif]
That also explains why I have a new leak... [sm=yikesomg.gif]
I just want to say [sm=thanx.gif]. I posted this same question in 2 other forums and you were the only one who helped me.
THANKS! [sm=hail.gif]

RE: Reverse Switch
Ha, Ha. Love your witty use of smileys there WillBurn!!
You are welcome as well. Not that I have not done that myself in the past being in a hurry.
If that is the problem and you are unable to find the old washer a new one will either be a Mazda part #9956-21-400 or #9956-41-400 depending upon model year and engine size.
