There should be a "LX", "DX",or "ES" decal located on the lower portion of thefront fender panel by the front door. The LX and ES models come with 14" wheels, so tire size may be an indicator (unless it's a DX with aftermarket wheels). Also; the DX and LX models have the smaller of the two engine options (1.5L) while the ES has the 1.8L (Miata engine?). I used to have a '97 LX...great little car. Hopefuly yours will serve you well.

10 kilometers per litre converts to 23.6 miles per gallon. That's almost exactly what I get in my 1996 ES. You're good, don't go wasting your money on any of the snake oil being sold on the net.

hmm, whered my post go?

either way,

ive got a 1998 protege, 1.8L engine. the jist of it was that 10 km/100L is what i average between highway and Toronto city driving (gives my transmission a real workout)

on the highway alone, if im cruising at 100km/h, i can swing around 7.5 L/100 km

I am experiencing aknocking sound around the both frontwheelsonly when I am turning left or right while driving and passing through the rough patches or pit holes. This is making me really confused about the ball bearing or something, anybody has any idea?
