Default Interested Buyer, please help

Hey Guys,

I was looking into buying a 2002 Mazda Protégé 5 and was looking for some advice, problems, pro's/ con's; any kind of information that would help me in purchasing a new car. The car I'm looking at is a 2002 protégé with 72,000 miles on it. The car is in good condition and the seller is looking for $7,800. Like I said any information would be awesome. Thanks for all the help.

typical mileage, maybe a little low. price seems low enough. what is the option package? base model has a cd player, keyless entry, and a manual transmission. if it has any options more than that, it is a good deal.

I have one with much more millage and I love it. Common problems are the EGR Valve ( Check if the idle is smooth ), rear gallipers seizing ( lube the sliders well on EVERY break pad replacement ), rear wiper mecanism seizing ( check the rear wiper speed, if it's too slow it's starting to seize ), oh, and take a look at the litle metal bars on the rear windows they tend to rust fast.

Other than that, I love the car, it's a good buy!

Also make sure to replace the timing belt AND water pump before 100,000 km. I did my timing belt at about 110,000km and had to replace the water pump (witch is located right behind the timing belt) at about 120,000km. Would have saved some 300$ of work if I had done it at the same time...
