Default "hold" code?

hello everyone. i am new to this site and really need some help. i have a 1992 protege 1.8L DOHC. i have had this problem for a little over a year now. the "hold" light flashes after about 1/2 hour of driving and does not shift from 2-3 gear. if i park and turn the car off, that usually makes it go away and the tranny shifts fine again. it started flashing a while back and went away for months. within the last 3 months or so it has been more frequent. i jumped the connectors ten and grd and got a code 66. can not find what this part is or how to repair it. this is our only car right now and really need some help. i have been taking great care of this car since i had it. usually whatever it needed it got so i dont know what this could be.

i was told today that it could be maybe the line pressure solenoid or a transmission temp. sensor. does anyone have any experience with either one of these and how hard they are to replace?

ok, well i had the car out all day today and the problem got even worse so, i decided to take it to aamco for a scan. found out that there is no code 66 for that car it was a code 6 which is the vehicle speed sensor located behind the instrument cluster. i am going to check it tomorrow with a volt meter. anyone else ever hear of this and how hard is it to repair?
