help buying new tires: falken, Yokohama, other?
I need to buy new tires and I want something that will last longer than the Dunlop 5000 my 2003 Protege5 came with. I have almost 50K miiles on them and needed to change them 5k ago. I will in MN so all season is a must.
I was looking into Falken 512's which are reviewed good at consumer reports in oct 2004. The only downside is they may only last 30,000 miles. They are only performance tires so should last longer than the Dunlops right?
I was also considering the Yokohama H4S with a 60,000 mile warranty. Are these any good, or how about the V4S they sell too?
Kuhmo is an option too with their ASX which is an ultra high performance all season.
Basically I want the Falken for the performance, even though I never go above 80mph but I like to take corners fast. Any idea how long the Falkens will really last?
Price is a consideration as I have the wife factor and this is my main car, so I need to stay under $600 for sure with install and fees.

I would say 50K miles on a set of tires is very good! The big trade off for the higher mileage tire warranties are they have a harder tire compound and will not stick to the pavement as well as the lower mileage ones. Do you want high mileage or great performance, this is the question to ask. Its really a trade off issue.
