2002 Protege5 w/ 250,000 miles

I am letting my sister borrow my car for a while and last week the breaks were making a horrible screeching sound. Somehow the brake pad on the front drivers side had vanished, so they got a new brake pad and put it back on. Since then they have driven it a couple of times and said that it would sometimes smell. I had finally had some time and took it out today for a drive to see if I could figure anything out. I noticed that on the freeway that it shook a lot then after driving for a while there was smoke coming from the pads. I let it sit for 10-15 minutes before going home, but it started shaking at 30mph speeds. I pulled over and the rotors were glowing. After letting it sit for another 30 minutes I got back in and the brake peddle went all of the way to the floor, so I pumped the brake a few times and it tightened up.

I am going to replace the rotor, caliper, pads, and bleed the brake line. Is there anything else I should check or be worried about?

 

Start with replacing both Front Rotors, all front pads & both front calipers, followed by flushing new brake fluid thru all 4 corners ( don't mismatch brakes )

Bed the new brakes in correctly, as per instructions. Then go for a good hard drive and see what, if anything happens.

 

Does the protege5 have a front back or split directional master cylinder?

If it is a split should I worry about the passenger back instead of the front?
