Default front bumper Protege 1995

Hi Everyone,

We have a Mazda protege 1995 LX and need to get the front bumper
replaced or fixed.

Our mechanic said he could basically Mickey-Mouse it for us.

We're also thinking of buying a new one or going to a junk yard and getting another one.

In your opinion which one of these options is better?

If we want to buy a new one, where can we find one? I've been looking around the web a little and can't find anything. Can anyone direct me to the right place?

Thank you very much for your help!

Do you mean bumper or bumper cover? I bet you are looking for a bumper cover.
Search again. Before you order check the shipping costs. Those things don't fit into a postal envelop.

Thanks for answering

No, I mean the bumper itself. Our car was parked on the street and a bicycle apparently hit it from the driver's side disconnecting/tearing off the bumper. Sorry I don't know if I'm using the right terminology

We took it to our mechanic and he said that one of the small parts that connects it to the body of the car was broken so he couldn't just put it back on, so to say. He did say that if we didn't care what it looked like he could just screw and bolt it back on.

Before doing this I just wanted to know how much a new one costs but can't seem to find one on the web. I was able to find a bumper cover but not the bumper itself.

Parsa:
He is referring to the bumper cover. The bumper is made of steel and mounted to the body with strong bolts. That steel carries a styrofoam piece to absorb any slow impacts. And because that looks so ugly they put a plastic bumper cover over it. There is no chance that a bicycle takes of the actual bumper. But it can take off the plastic bumper cover.
You go to E-bay motors and look for bumper cover. Keep in mind it has to be shipped and painted.

Screws are cheaper.

OK, now I get it. Thank you for your help and explaining this .

I'll start looking into it. Maybe I can find something second hand at a
junk yard or something.

I could probably try to find a black one and forget painting it but then
the shipping is a problem.

Parsa: let your mechanic fasten the old bumper cover with a screw or two so it won't bent away from the car when you drive at speed.

You can replace the bumper cover later.
