Default Failing Clear Coat on Red 2002 Protege 5

Has anyone else out there experienced failing clearcoat on the RED 2002 Protege 5? I take immaculate care of my car (wash once a week wax every 60 days) All of the clear coat is failing on PLASTIC PARTS ONLY. Started on the mirrors now it has spread to the rear spoiler and bumper, the front bumber and even the ground effects on the sides. I have read other sites where this seems to have happened and wonder wht recourse (if any) do I have and what have you done? The paint on the rest of the car is perfect!

the same thing happened to me on the same car. first, it was the door handles. then it started to spread to the other plastic pieces.

I think it mightbe happening on my mirrors, but I haven't looked much into it since I just bought it a couple months ago. but thanks for letting me know that's what it is.

I've had this happen on a few darker color/clear coatedcars I've had.I believeit's due to waxing and sun.

Case in point: My wife's burgundy Saturn. Until last year I don't think we ever waxed that car, so I waxed it. This spring it's beginning to peel all over.
A Mitsu I owned, same thing. I waxed it twice a year and after the 3rd year it too started to peel... especially on the hood and front end, but soon spread to the roof. I have since seen others like it that are just as old ('92-'93 in this case) that look like they've been abused all their lives and they look better than mine did when I sold it.
Too, I always noticed how much hotter the paint felt in the sun after I had just waxed it too. The painted surfaces would be so hot during midday that I couldn't touch them for long w/o literally getting burned. It stayed much cooler just before I'd wax it.
