Default ECU Ground

Where does the ECU ground terminate? The engine or the chassis? I plan on running a wideband gauge and want to use the same voltage reference (ground)as the ecuwithout tapping into the harness.

This link is for a 2002. But the wiring diagrams would be similar, but I would definitely try to get a diagram that is specific to your car. But this might point you in the right direction.
