Default Did mazda change/ update there engine oil diptick or have i had the worng oil stick

My engine oil dipstick broke in the dipstick tube i have a friend who will help me take it out. But the boken oil dipstick in my car is orange where you read the Low and full mark. I went to the mazda dealership today and they gave me a different engine oil dipstick and they kept telling me thats the right one for my car. The part no. for this dipstick is bpd3-10-450c is this the right dipstick for my car, or am i suppose to use only the orange dipstick for my car or did mazda update there dipstick?

I believe this dipstick they gave me according to them can fit any Mazda protege or protege5 from 1996- 2001 regardless of engine type\

My car mazda protege 2000 1.6l

here is the orange diptick:

here is the dipstick they gave me:

So, you old dip stick was plastic and the new 1 is steel?

Is the oil level in your engine at the same mark on both dipsticks?

Most likely Mazda realised the plastic dip stick was crap & replaced it with a steel 1.
