I just sent you a long & detailed reply and itdid not send. Anyway, the pics you sent are your car and look completely different from mine. So to me it all looks like black spaghetti. That's why it was so hard to findmy EGR. In every car, they look different. I will try & decipher the pics & what you wrote. Again, I'm badat this. I'm going to clean my K&N filter now. Bought the cleaning kit. This should be EZ for me. I'm sure I'll have another question. Thanks for your patience, time & help.

PLEASE HELP!!! I am having this identical problem with my 2000 Mazda Miata MX5 - Code: PO402 EGR Flow Excessive Detected. The light goes on and off, usually staying on for a day or two, but never continually stays on (since this problem began several months ago).In accordance to what is told toDino with his problem- my brother will assist me in checking all the vacuum lines -EGR boost sensor andboost sensor solenoid valve and line to manifold. I purchased an EGR gasket in the event we need to pull this off if the sensor and solenoid lines prove to be working fine. I have a questionfrom the TSBprovidedfor this code problem - it states to "remove EGR valve (for Pretege), or Surge tank (for Miata)" - (#1) - where and whatthe heck is the surge tank?, and (#2) - should I still pull the EGR valve?

Additionally, and I hope I'm not asking too much here, but I have a second issue I am hoping suggestions to -when I drive my car over a few miles, once it heats up - and I shut the car off - it will not start for at least 20-30 minutes. The engine turns over - but will not start until it completely cools down. Any suggestions of what the cause of this may be and what we may do in the attempt to rectify?

Great info on the EGR issue. Hello to everyone, I am new to this forum. I do have a similiar problem on a 2003 Protege. P0401 code. Took off EGR and it was stuck (carboned up), cleaned it and put it back with the original metal shim type gasket. Still get P0401 code. Should I try replacing the DPFE sensor next?

Thanks,
CC
