Hello,

I started noticing this problem a few days ago. When I approach 60mph and attempt to accelerate the car will sputter and jerk and it doesn't seem to go faster. Out of fear I stopped trying to push the gas pedal in case I might cause further damage. City driving is fine and there is usually no problems driving or accelerating under 60mph. The jerking I mentioned does happen whenever I am going up a hill and step on the gas. It only jerks a few times before accelerating.

It's a 2003 Mazda Protege. Any help is most appreciated.

I had a similar problem on my 99' Protege. I eventually figured out one of the ignition coils failing. After I replaced it, it resolved my issues.
Is it throwing a CEL? If so, what are the codes you are getting?
