Car clunk noise
Does not make a difference if I am turning it is not suspension. It is clutch or transmission related. The noise is not as loud and sometimes completely stops if the clutch is disengaged. Does not make the noise I believe if going in reverse.
2000 Mazda Protege Front wheel drive manual transmission.

It really sounds like an axle joint or warped bearing hub to me. It should be pretty obvious once you get the two front wheels off the ground and run it in first gear. Since there is no noise in reverse it would be more likely an axle noise since the excessive wear would likely occur with pressure from one side in forward gears. Reverse is only used .00001% of the time resulting in no wear to that side of the cv joint, thus no noise.
