If I source the S-Assy box from the 2003 Protege SE at the junk yard into my 2001 protege DX complete with a rewiring, would that alone work, or would I also need the SE’s ECU?

(SN: I don’t have the money to get a new car, I like this one, I find tiptronic shifting more fun and engaging than regular auto when driving and I’m using it as a project car to learn.)
