Default anyone heard of rope being tied around rear axel on both sides?

I just bought mazda 94 protégé. its driving pretty good everything under hood is new. but just noticed rope tied around both rear axel/control arms. not sure if that what its called. rope is loose doesn't look like its holding anything together, just wondering if this is some kind of cheap fix or did they just tie it there to drag something... maybe farm car? any ideas would be great. honestly rear suspension seems fine while driving,

that rope is probably there hoping to quiet noise from the control arms. they are pretty noisy when the bushings fail. an easy fix, just replace them. o´reilly´s have them at a fair price. remove the rope. if there is a noise when you get over bumps or brake, replace them. otherwise, keep going and be happy! a good opportunity to check the control links too, and the bushings for the rear stabilizer bar.
