Default 99' Protege LS DOHC 16 valve
Just got it a couple of weeks ago. Automatic transmission slips a little when I actually put it into D. When it goes into gear---only two or three seconds---it will go and sometimes feels like it goes into low and gets really slow acceleration---sometimes worse than others. The OD Off light blinks almost all the time. Gulp.

Get a code check and then a transmission service.

can I do that myself and do you recommend changing the transmission fluid myself?

What will one of these cost me at a dealership?
