Default 97 protege 1.5L convertor

had a CEL come on ,dont rememeber the code that showed up, but it stated something was going on with the exhaust convertor . I took it to a local midas muffler shop & the tech said the car has 2 convertors & the one below the exhaust manifold was more then likely the convertor that was bad. Question is where can you buy one other then a mazda dealer? Thought about just drilling a few holes in it & blowing the thing out with a air compressor. Checked the local Junk/salvage yards in my area & no luck on finding one to replace mine with. Any suggestions on how I can clean out this convertor or where I could buy one cheap would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance Danny
enclosed is a pic of the convertor I"am refering too.

I'm sure it was a catalytic converter efficiency code. If you just hollow it out, you will not do anything to eliminate that code, just more likely it will come back or stay on. The pic that you showed is a warm-up converter to speed up the emissions cycle as the engine heats up.

Thanks for the reply, I kinda figured the only fix is to replace the convertor .
