96 mazda protege geared timing?

Getting ready to order timing belt and water pump and look in at oil fill hole and it looks like my car has timing chain?

Ummm, I'm thinking that is unlikely; I don't believe any Protege models had a timing chain.

Some of the double overhead cam engines ran a timing belt to 1 camshaft and a timing chain between the two camshafts.
