Default 93 Protege valve cover question

Hello all,

I just got this car 92 mazda protege auto, it has a leaking valve cover. it looks like one of the more simple ones to change but it looks like the bolts run into the timing belt cover, does this have to be removed to change valve cover?

also i am concerned about a leak spot i saw on the ground today after using the car. The spot was close to the front of the car, kinda just under where the belts are but a little bit futher towards the front of the engine. I am concerned because the fluid was thin and i think it may have been trans fluid, although the power steering pump fluid is near here as well, would tranny fluid be leaking from this spot/area of vehicle?

also anyone know what kind of trans fluid to put in for this car?

thanks a mil.....

is more than likely power steering fluid, but i would probe around and see what you could find. the valve cover shouldn't be the source of the leak unless it is cracked. the source should be the seal on the valve cover, and you shouldn't have to remove the timing cover to get to it, but i could be wrong. turn some bolts and see what you come up with.
