I recently bought a Protege 5 for $450, 137k miles, manual, with only small patches of rust scattered around the car. It will run, but it's basically a smoke machine, it's white smoke and after running for a minute gas will drip out of the tailpipe. It doesn't smell like coolant, mostly just gas. The guy who I bought it from was selling it because he didn't want the project anymore, and he couldn't figure the exact problem out, he said he couldn't get any codes out of the OB2. Was wondering if it could be the injectors, bad O2 sensors, or maybe the ecu. It's my first project car and I bought this wanting to really learn more about cars. Anything you guys could think of or know of would help. Just joined and I'm pretty excited to start on this.
