Hi,
I have a 2002 Protege (Automatic) with 151K. It needs a catalic converter now and I am trying to figure out what else may go in the future. I am thinking about selling it and getting a new car or putting the money into this one to repair it.

Anyone have any thoughts of what may die soon. I am also look for a source to get a discounted catalyc converter (I am told it s $2,000).

Which cat, first of all? The pre-cat on the exhaust mani or the second cat on your exhaust?
You could look for one at a salvage yard,
Or you could just get the an aftermarket mid-pipe with a high-flow cat for about $270 or so.
2000.00 for a catalytic convertor is crazy.

 

i got my cat, as well as a flex pipe for $150 or so...

dont even think about paying $2000 for a cat....your getting majorly ripped off
