My 1993 Protege vibrates and makes loud humming noises when I am stopped at a light. The noise is lessen a bit when I shift it to neutral from drive. Once Istart driving,the noise disappears and it drives great. Anybody know how to fix this?

 

That's kind of the same problem I have only mine is just at Start Up. It doesn't happen at Stop Lights, just at Start Up. I was told to check the Engine Mounts. See my Post "Engine Rumble At Start Up !".

 

could be a timing belt has that been replaced lately? if not u know when last time it was, my subaru had same symptoms and i think my timing was getting thrown off and causing car 2 "shake like a salt shaker"
