Starting Issues 1992 mx3 1.6 5sp PLEASE HELP!!!!
My sister was driving the car and said it got very hot and shut off. I replaced the plugs and cranked it a few times and took the plug out and it has fuel on the plug so i assume its getting fuel fine. I took the coil off and took it to autozone and they tested the resistance and said the coil is good. Before i had the coil tested ,i removed the plug wire that goes to the distributor and gounded a screwdriver against it. it threw a red spark,i had read somewhere that its supposed to be blue? anyway they said it was good. Any ideas to what i need to do?

Since it got so hot that it shut down, I'd suggest checking cylinder compression. You could end up dealing with a blown head gasket. Check water and oil to see if they're pure, no water in oil, vice-versa. If fluids have traded a little, you're likely dealing with head gasket. However, fluids aren't always affected, so clean fluids doesn't necessarily rule out the possibility.
I don't know about the spark color. My mazdas have internal coils, so I can't test either.
Good luck!
