Mazda MX-3 and Mazda MX-6 These two sporty models have become popular cars for import tuners due to the availability of parts, the low price, and the smooth lines.

Default Mx 3 - how many have been scrapped ?

I recently scrapped my 1993 MX3 V6 1.8 INJ ABS under the government sponsored scheme after five years of ownership. Although the car had done more than 120,000 miles it ran faultlessly and still looked great. One inpetus for replacing the car was the ludicrously high cost of genuine Mazda spares. To be asked more than £200 each for front fog lights and more than £1000 for a front seat covering is ridiculous for a 16 year old car.
The ride, handling and performance of the MX3 more than matched its replacement - a new Alfa Romeo Mito 155 BHP.
I am now feeling rather guilty about scrapping the car - and it set me wondering how many other very good MX3s have disappeared under the scrappage scheme.
If the Alfa is still on the road after more than 16 years I will be very surprised indeed !
Have other members any thoughts about the high cost of Mazda parts ?
