Mazda MX-3 and Mazda MX-6 These two sporty models have become popular cars for import tuners due to the availability of parts, the low price, and the smooth lines.

Default A few pictures of my '92 MX-3 GS

I picked up this '92 MX-3 GS 5MT a year ago, and having registered it last month, I thought I'd share a few pics.

I'm the second owner, and the car was well cared for until being parked a few years ago. I replaced intake manifold and valve cover gaskets, fuel injectors, fuel and engine filters, distributor, rotor, cap, spark plugs and wires, and various vacuum hoses, etc to get her running smooth again. Though it doesn't make much power, the little 1.8 liter V6 is buttery smooth, and makes a great sound. There are more things to do (namely a suspension refresh, and sourcing/replacing the various rubber seals around the glass & sunroof), but so far I am really enjoying driving the car.

I haven't had too much trouble, to be honest. Everything that I've needed has been readily available through PartsGeek, RockAuto, or OEM. I use eBay for used parts (found a back-up airflow sensor and idle air controller, and a set of Eunos Presso side sills!)... keep in mind that many later Mazdas, and even the Ford Probe shared the K series V-6, so there is stuff out there.

sadly mine was the L4 model and theres blessed few of them left anymore . . . ive checked all those sites and cant find replacements for any of the interior and only my front quarter panels on the exterior.
im not too worried about the drivetrain as the engine thats in it got a rebuild just before i bought it(newly milled short block and head as well as all new internals) and only has about 5K mi on it since i bought it hehe,
although i might need to source transmission parts sooner rather than later.
i was able to get a really nice clutch from LUK (thing was cute and tiny XD) and the mechanic refaced my flywheel so she runs really nice at the moment, although i need to adjust the gear ratios back to stock as one
of her previous owners tried to race her and wallered the clutch, so the ratios drifted.
like i said, my issue is cosmetic parts, interior and exterior body panels, dashboard, seats . . . stuff like that that was sadly pretty specific to that year as well as model
i did forget about the eunos though, so i will do some digging in that regards and see if i can source some parts internationally lol.
if i do manage to, then ill prolly drop a post sharing that source, so we can all fix up the little things XD

and while im sure this is a long shot, if you ever decided to sell her, please keep me in mind, i would happily buy her off of you as i absolutely love the 92's XD

Your ride is 30 yrs old and looks to be in absolutely amazing condition. Congrats. I have an Arctic White '95 RS MTX that has been my perpetual project car for more than a few years....

Thanks neutral, the car is a survivor. Here's what it looked like when I got it:

And after tearing in:

I've been driving the car on nice days, and just rolled over 92,000 miles. Right now, it's straight-piped, which is fun but a little bit juvenile. I'll put a muffler on for the spring, but for now it's nice to hear the little V6 spinning up to 7500 RPM. Here's a quick pull:

As they say, everything has its price! I have a few other projects (928, 944, 745t), so there's plenty on my plate. One sold for about $7k on BAT https://bringatrailer.com/listing/1992-mazda-mx-3/ which was nice to see, since I haven't been able to find any other MX-3s on offer, especially '92 GS 5MT.

Thank you!! The pictures are flattering. As with any 30 year old car, everything that hasn't been refreshed is a potential problem. I haven't been driving it as much in the last few weeks, as I have a new clutch/TOB kit waiting to go in. Will also attempt to tackle a little sheet metal repair along the rockers, and clean up the under carriage a bit.

Really nice! You never see these much anymore. Send me a PM if you don’t mind. I wanted to ask you more about the car.
