Default Engine trouble.

Hi, my 1989 MX6 recently started to do a few abnormal things. First off, the engine has been starting to make a squilling sound when it starts up, also a clicking sound. I don't know much about cars, but I was thinking the timing belts, if that's what they are called, are loose. As for the clicking sound, I have no clue, although it does sound close to wear the belts are located at on the left side.

Another thing is that it has been burning oil. I changed to a 10-40 high mile weight oil and I noticed my car has been starting to smell like burning oil. When I got home from driving it yesterday, I opened the hood up. All around the engine, there was oil residue. I used a thicker oil before and the smell wasn't nearly as strong.

Does anyone know what's wrong with my car? What will the estimated cost be for repairs?

Thanks in advance for your help.
