Yeah - it's an auto trans. It was parked in the weeds for a while, I just brought it home today for a price that I couldn't pass on: $150.oo

Here's the car after it's first bath:

I posted about this one in the new member area, and someone asked if it was some kind of joke, dunno why.

To drag it home, I disconnected the shift cable at the transaxle lever, and pushed the lever into the neutral position right there on the trans. So the problem is definitely in either the shifter or the cable. I/WE tried putting a jumper pack on the car because I know some Japanese auto-trans cars have a solenoid that prevents the car from being taken out of park unless the key switch is on. No joy!

I suppose it could be a bound up cable, stuck shifter, bad linkage, something jammed somewhere, or just a switch or release I either don't know about (YET) or that isn't working.

I also know for a fact now that it's a non-turbo B6D.

Behind it, in the garage, I'm going into work on a Ford Festiva with a B6T. But the shape of this car is a winner in my book - even if it's a smaller mill than I had hoped for. Essentially it has a hemispherical upper chamber with a 4V per cyl layout, and that's unbeatable. But the boat-tail back window and roof shape is something I have been thinking about for a while. Above a certain speed you are streamlined or you are not - and that makes a ton of difference.

I think we can all agree - that's a helluva lot of car for what I paid out for it

WORD on it, is that the guy who owned it before he passed away was driving it up and down his private road last year.
