Scuffing sound from under front end while driving
My 2005 Mazda MPV has recently started making a scuffing noise when going down the highway. I first noticed it while doing about 48 to 52 mph and as I sped up past that range it stop making the noise but now at cruising speeds between 70 and 76 it comes and goes and is steady while making a long slow curve to the right. It has the 3 liter V6 and only has 222K miles on it. Front wheel bearings and both CV shafts and the passenger side CV shaft carrier bearing were replaced at 135K miles and then I changed the drivers side CV shaft again at 200K miles. Has anyone else ever noticed a noise like this? It's like a scuffing or scraping noise not steady but like a "wah-wah-wah-wah". I can hear it and feel it in the steering wheel and even the passenger can hear it. My wife loves these MPV vans so I'm trying to keep this one running as long as possible.
Lets start over.
Your Model year and miles.
Who has looked at it already?
Where do "you" think the sound is coming from?
Scuffing sound is a very subjective and not really the best way experienced would call it unless you have a rotation drive assembly or rotating engine accessories rubbing on something in which case 'scuffing" would be very easy to track down.
Next question did you and a service tech or mechanic go for a test drive so you could identify what you hear as "scuffing"?
