Default power door lock motors

Both of my front power door lock motors are going bad at 75,000 miles on my 200 MPV. Seems odd that both would go bad at almost exactly the same time. Anyone else having similar problems? I've had the locks checked by my local mechanic, and he confirmed it's the motors and looks like a $400-500 fix. Ouch!

Have not seen many power lock failures on later MPV but they both do usually get operated the same number of times so not too surprising that they went caput together.

I have a 2000 MPV .How do you know when your central door locking motor goes?
I think my front passenger door motor has gone but am not sure. How can you tell? Its just I dont want to spend a lot of money on a motor when it might not need one.
Also if it is the case ,is it easy to fit a new one?
