K & N Filter and Check Engine light comes ON?
Just broke down and put in a KNN filter on my 2002 MPV and bingo... the engine check light comes on. Is this something I need to worry about because the engine is sensing more air than normal? Will it cause problems to the fuel system? Has anyone else had this problem and what was the solution. I don't want to go into Mazda for the $160.00 check up if I can avoid it.
Sorry if I duplicated this post. Just need some help.

RE: K & N Filter and Check Engine light comes ON?
If the element gets over-oiled, it can foul the MAF sensor. I'd pull the sensor and clean it real quick with isopropyl alcohol, reset the check engine light and see if it comes back.
The filter should be lightly sprayed with the K&N oil, not soaked. I've used them for 15+ years with no issues
