Engine light Q: 115k miles
Just started up my 1999 MPV after it rolled over 115,000 miles. The check engine light is flashing, but everything else seems perfectly fine. It is running just as well as it did before it hit 115k.
My wife said her mother had an older MPV that would have the light come on when it hit specific mileage. Does anyone know if that could be the case for this vehicle? Planning on taking it to my mechanic Monday morning to have it checked out either way.

Well, technically you shouldn't drive with a flashing CEL, but people do. Being that it was flashing but the car was driveable, I'm guessing perhaps an ignition coil going bad or on its way out. While some say, you can't drive with a bad ignition coil its voltage or resistance could be out of range ever so slightly. Bad ignition could would be my guess but since you have the CEL you should be able to read the code.
Problem was, we were working an event, and didn't have any choice but to take the van when the light started flashing shortly after we started rolling.
today I disconnected the battery for a bit, and reconnected it. I started it up and let it run for a little bit, and the light had stopped flashing. It has gone back to its regular steady state, which it has been in for quite some time. (I have already taken it by my mechanic, who said he could find nothing wrong. The code for the study light seems to be related to an oxygen sensor in the exhaust system.)
in the end, it appears I answered my own question today.
