Default Coolant Loss

Hi Guys,

I have a 1994 MPV 3.0 v6. My coolant in the reservoir has always been decreasing. I'm not the only one, a friend who has the same model is experiencing the problem. He had just replaced his timing belt and waterpump installed. No leak no sign of decay on or around hoses.

Any clue ? did you have similar problem. How do i get it fixed ?\

thanks,

I have a 2000 MPV with the 2.5 and see the same thing. No loss is obvious as any type of leak. I only have 58k on mine but the loss isnot quitea large cup of coffee (not much). I suspect it may be making its way through the tailpipe and I hope it doesn't get any worse.

Wow, this is a old message but let me relate what happens to my MPV. I am having loss of coolant myself and it turned to be a split coolant resevoir. Somehow it developed a fissure that leaks the liquid when it's hot. I mechanic told me there was no solution other than replacing the item. Hope that helps.

So, a "split coolant resevoir" was the problem? Could I possibly need an "oil cooler" part? I believe that was the term my mechanic used for this part. He asked if car had ever been up North for a time, but NO, always been in Florida. It has had a slow resevoir leak for years, but now I am told that it is this part I have never heard of, and it is coroded.Any suggestions?

A bit Late on the reply..first and foremost , I hope you solved the problem , or most importantly being this thread is so old... you sold or gave away the car .

Coolant leak / lost is a problem that affects all engines old and new.... steps in checking

check first ....HOSES ..condition are they cracking bent or just out of life
CONNECTIONS.... woren , cracked etc
REMOVE PLUG IS THERE OIL N COOLANT MIXED? if so GASKET replace
CHECK RESV.
RADIATOR
...after all is looked after chk to see the amount of coolant lose daily you can judge what to do at this point.

good luck
